June Musings

Rita de Maintenon Sunrise

This month’s musings are very sad but I want to keep all of you fiber friends updated.

May brought us a fun vacation and anniversary celebration; we spent 4 busy days in Las Vegas and especially enjoyed the Paris, Paris Hotel and the Chihuly glass ceiling at the Bellagio.

Dave took this image of the sunrise as we prepared to land back home in Asheville. Several days later, after receiving a clean bill of health, he collapsed and died of a massive coronary. I am devastated and incredibly grateful for the support to keep going and handle what needs to be done. Family and close friends are so important at a time like this, and so much appreciated.

Late at night, when I am done with phone calls and other necessary chores, I enjoy my current tablecloth restoration, a medallion and spiderweb Italian design. It is very soothing to feel it in my lap and do the familiar motions with my hook and a tiny needle. Familiar things are comfortable and I love my work, it keeps me sane.

I am scheduled to demonstrate again on June 10 through 13 at the Folk Art Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Asheville and despite my sadness, I am looking forward to being there again. It is my second home; seeing friends and customers and the usual routine will feel very comforting. So, this blog is short today and I am sure you all understand.
Hug and love your loved ones today!   “I do what I love and I love what I do.”
