Welcome to the brand-new look of my Heirloom Treasures website!
Kaitlin, my webmaster, did a fantastic job expressing my intention of preserving the past in all of my work and teaching and yet bringing it into the future with contemporary applications; not just in my work, but now also in the website.
Thanks to Kaitlin (kaitlinclarkmarketing@gmail.com) for the new site, I think she did a terrific job retaining the proper look for my mission statement: “Preserving the Past and Moving it Forward” while giving it a fresh and updated look. Enjoy looking it over and be sure to check out the Events page! And feel free to send me any comments you might have.
Next will be a new look for my boutique site: www.heirloomtreasuresboutique.com, stand by for updates on that site, maybe as early as next month.
Now I am looking forward to a relaxing summer. Last week my musical friends and I enjoyed the opening night of this year’s Brevard Music Center Summer Music Festival. We have symphonies, operas, jazz and contemporary music to look forward to. Some performances are enjoyed in a comfortable lawn chair, but most in the auditoriums and concert halls on the premises. I am especially looking forward to Bizet’s Carmen, which I have not seen since I was a little girl. The colorful costumes will inspire a line-up of new designs!
Currently I am replenishing my inventory for the July demo. I found a special buy on a large lot of Peaches and Cream and Sugar and Cream cotton skeins; everything from patriotic red, white and blue to my beloved soft baby blues and
pinks. So now I have patriotic potholders and new baby bottom bundle baby washcloths. These smaller items are great to work on during this record heat we have been experiencing.
Sometimes I take a little while to chill out with my favorite canine, Tom Boy, who lives next door. He is a retired greyhound racer, just 3 years old. He still requires lots of exercise, so I often walk with him and his human mom about 1 mile during the cooler part of the evening. Tom and my favorite time to chill is when his parents enjoy a night out and we keep each other company. Most often he falls asleep, and we kiss goodbye at the door. What a perfect date!
I found a wonderful new Tunisian stitch that works best on heavier yarn and is perfect for a masculine project. Credit for the pattern goes to Red Heart Yarnspirations. You can find it under:

You can download the free pattern, be sure to use yarn for a K, L or M hook. I tried for a lacy variety but I did not like the loose look. Have fun!
I saw James Patterson on Good Morning America a couple of weeks back promoting his new book with Dolly Parton and talking about the next mystery he is working on. He finished up by saying: “You are lucky if you find something you
like to do in life, and it is a miracle if somebody will pay you to do it!”
I agree with him!
So if you get paid for what you do or not, enjoy the summer sunshine! Get a cool drink and remember: Summertime – and the living is easy!
I certainly try!
Happy summer!
“I do what I love and I love what I do.”
