August 2018 Musings

Last week brought a nice surprise, Online Course Review (click on the image to see their award page) named my Udemy knitting workshop Best Online Course 2018. I appreciate the honors! You can click HERE to check out this class and all my video classes offered on Udemy.

July was super busy with demo dates at the Folk Art Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Southern Highland Guild Summer Show at the Cellular Center downtown Asheville. Despite traffic and parking challenges, the number of visitors was up in both locations and I enjoyed meeting interesting folks from all over the world.

The Brevard Music Festival continued with several well produced operas and symphonic gems we enjoyed under the stars. Brevard, NC also features a new kid on the block, the Sun Dragon Art and Fiber store on South Broad Street. Although it has been open for almost a year, word is now getting around about the quality of Rebecca’s unusual fibers and excellent workshops. She loves both knit and crochet and carries an exquisite selection of yarns. I purchased a beautiful lavender and beige spun silk and some Inca inspired alpaca, silk and yak blends from Peru. I can’t wait to get my hooks around either of these treasures and create new designs for fall.

August is my birthday month and we have already started to celebrate! There is a surprise trip in my future, as well as lunch in one of my favorite places. The Chihuly Art Glass exhibit at the Biltmore Estate is definitely on my list, as well as the final week of the Brevard Music Festival.

I will also get together with my Fabulous Four musical friends for a summer birthday celebration at the historic Grove Park Inn in Asheville. It will be a wonderful month of festivities! I hope you find reasons to celebrate and enjoy summer.
